Fiat 1500 Cabriolet -1964
The Fiat 1500 Cabriolet was designed and manufactured by Pininfarina from 1959 to 1966 as a successor of the Fiat 1200 and Transformabile.
The Fiat 1500 Cabriolet type 118, is powered by an 1500 cc four cylinder OHV engine with aluminium crossflow head and a two barrel Weber carburettor that develops 80 hp. Together with it’s relatively light weight of 960 kg, it provides a pure Italian sportscar with brisk acceleration and a top speed of 160 km/h.
Fiat offered the car very complete: Pirelli Cinturato tires, leatherette upholstery, padded dash, electric wipers, tachometer, cigarette lighter, heater, defroster, steeringlock, tonneau cover, 4 interior lights in all compartments, automatic returning signals, safety belt anchors, bumper guards, ashtray, emergency tool kit, factory undercoating and: power brakes!
This example has a unique story. The originally Dutch delivered Fiat was in possession of the same Dutch family since 1967. Grandfather who started the familybusiness bought the car and cherished the Spider. Every businessevent the car was present and with every company relocation the car moved along. At last the grandson inherited the car at a mileage of 15.500 km. The specific conditions in which the car is preserved (always dry stored), contributed to a remarkable condition. The underside is rustfree and has still the originally applied undercoating. The car shows authentic with little traces of use and chrome parts with minimal patina. The original (!) leatherette upholstery, with the heavy foam padding still like new (!), and it’s first carpets, are all silent witnesses of a unique history.
The car was recently made roadworthy. The cylinder head has been overhauled, the engine has been fitted with new gaskets, filters and oil. The fuel system has been completely overhauled and a new handmade stainless steel fuel tank has been fitted (original no longer available). A new clutch was mounted.The complete braking system has been overhauled and a new brake booster has been fitted. The first linen of the sofftop had dried like parchment. So he also got a new black canvas soft top and a new tonneau cover. Also new chrome bumpers and hubcaps were fitted. Finally, 5 new Pirelli Cinturato tires have been fitted just as it was delivered from new.
This Fiat 1500 Cabriolet is incomparable, and a unique opportunity for the real enthusiast.
